SKU CH-G-COAT-406S

Compact automatic double-sided screen coating machine engineered for precise, repeatable emulsion application, consistent stencil thickness, and increased screen-room productivity.

Characteristics

The Grünig G-Coat 406s Double Sided Screen Coater is a professional automatic screen coating machine designed to eliminate the inconsistencies associated with manually applying emulsion. Engineered for both manual and automatic press screens, the G-Coat 406s provides precise, repeatable coating results while helping screen-printing operations increase productivity and standardize stencil preparation.

The automatic coating system can coat both sides of the screen mesh simultaneously or coat a single side depending on the selected coating program. Operators can independently program up to 10 coating passes on the squeegee side and up to 10 passes on the print side, providing flexibility for different mesh counts, emulsions, stencil thicknesses, and printing applications.

Adjustable coating speed allows operators to further control emulsion deposit and fine-tune stencil EOM. Grünig specifies a coating speed range of approximately 15–65 mm/sec, along with programmable flow time and adjustable frame profile height.

By controlling coating parameters mechanically instead of relying on individual operator technique, the G-Coat 406s delivers highly reproducible stencil thickness. More consistent coatings help produce repeatable exposure times, stencil quality, and ultimately more consistent printing results from screen to screen.

The G-Coat 406s accommodates a single screen up to 27.5" x 39.4" outside dimensions, making it an excellent choice for standard manual and automatic textile screen-printing frames. Fast loading and unloading eliminates the spring-loaded effort associated with some coating systems and helps keep screen-room production moving efficiently.

A user-friendly control panel provides straightforward access to coating parameters, while the coating troughs can be changed without tools. Pneumatically controlled trough contact pressure and tipping help maintain controlled contact between the coating trough and screen mesh throughout the coating cycle.

The machine's compact footprint makes automatic screen coating practical even for screen rooms where floor space is limited. The included stand positions the coater at a comfortable working height, and once assembled, the Plug & Coat design allows for straightforward setup and operation.

The G-Coat 406s includes one set of Grünig G-Coat 401 precision coating troughs with 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm edge options, with a choice of 15" or 18" trough width. These precision troughs, combined with the automated coating process, provide screen printers with greater control over emulsion deposit and stencil characteristics.

Swiss engineered for reliable professional use, the Grünig G-Coat 406s provides an effective way for growing and high-production screen-printing operations to automate one of the most critical variables in the screen-making process.

Usage Tips
  • Make sure the screen frame is properly positioned and securely seated in the screen holders before beginning a coating cycle.
  • Select coating parameters according to the emulsion, mesh count, desired stencil thickness, and printing application.
  • Program the desired number of coating passes independently for the squeegee and print sides.
  • Use simultaneous double-sided coating when appropriate to improve coating efficiency and maintain consistent emulsion application.
  • Adjust coating speed to help fine-tune emulsion deposit and desired EOM.
  • Use the appropriate 0.5 mm or 1.0 mm coating trough edge based on the desired coating characteristics.
  • Maintain consistent coating programs for repeat jobs to improve stencil-to-stencil reproducibility.
  • Keep the G-Coat 401 coating troughs clean and free of dried emulsion to maintain smooth, uniform coating.
  • Thoroughly clean coating troughs immediately after use according to the emulsion manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.
  • Make sure the compressed-air supply is clean, regulated, and maintained at the required operating pressure.
  • Periodically inspect the screen holders, coating carriage, trough mounting points, and pneumatic components as part of routine preventive maintenance.
  • Follow the Grünig operating manual for machine setup, programming, cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
