Economical, high-opacity white plastisol ink formulated for 100% cotton garments, delivering excellent coverage, easy printability, low tack, quick flashing, and a smooth matte finish.

Characteristics

Rutland EH9072 NPT SF-2 Cotton White – 5 Gallon, also known as Street Fighter Cotton White (SF2), is a standard-cure white plastisol ink designed specifically for screen printing on 100% cotton garments. It combines strong opacity with easy production characteristics, making it suitable as either an underbase or a stand-alone white.

Its creamy, short-body consistency provides easy printing and good shear action, while the low-tack formulation helps minimize ink buildup and allows the ink to print through relatively fine mesh counts without requiring a viscosity modifier. The result is excellent coverage on dark cotton garments while maintaining a comfortable hand.

EH9072 is particularly useful for production shops looking for a versatile everyday cotton white. Street Fighter Cotton White provides exceptional brightness, a satin hand, and a smooth matte finish while delivering effective fiber mat-down for a cleaner printed surface on cotton fabrics.

The ink's combination of high opacity, quick flashing, low hot tack, and easy printability makes it well suited for efficient production environments. Low hot tack can also help reduce the need for a dedicated cool-down station during multi-color production.

Recommended Additives
  • Rutland K2910 Viscosity Buster: May be used when viscosity reduction is necessary.
  • EH9072 is formulated as a ready-to-print ink and should be printed directly from the container whenever possible.
  • Reducing white ink can decrease opacity, so additions should be kept to the minimum amount necessary.
  • Thoroughly mix any additive into the ink and test the modified ink for opacity, printability, cure, and finished performance before production.
Usage Tips
  • Thoroughly mix EH9072 before printing.
  • Print directly from the container whenever possible.
  • Use a 70–80 durometer squeegee as a starting point for production printing.
  • Recommended mesh range is approximately 86–230 threads per inch without modifying the ink's viscosity.
  • Mesh counts up to approximately 320 threads per inch may be used depending on the specific application and desired ink deposit.
  • For maximum opacity and heavier ink deposits, use a coarser mesh count.
  • Finer mesh counts can be used when a softer hand and finer ink deposit are desired.
  • The ink's low-tack characteristics help maintain good coverage when printing through finer mesh counts.
  • Flash only long enough to gel the ink surface and prepare it for subsequent colors.
  • The approximate gel point is 150°F (65°C).
  • Fully cure the complete ink deposit to 320°F (160°C).
  • Verify curing through production testing rather than relying only on dryer temperature settings.
  • Dryer efficiency, belt speed, garment construction, and ink-film thickness can affect actual curing performance.
  • Always test the complete printing and curing process before beginning a full production run.
Best For
  • Dark 100% cotton T-shirts
  • Cotton sweatshirts
  • Cotton hoodies
  • Cotton fleece
  • Light, medium, and dark cotton garments
  • High-opacity stand-alone white graphics
  • White underbases beneath additional plastisol colors
  • Designs requiring good fiber mat-down
  • Manual screen printing
  • Automatic screen printing
  • High-volume production environments
  • Applications requiring quick flashing and low hot tack
  • Shops looking for an economical everyday cotton white
Important Printing Information

Rutland EH9072 NPT SF-2 Cotton White is specifically classified as a cotton white. It is designed primarily for 100% cotton garments and is not recommended as a bleed-resistant white for cotton/polyester blends or 100% polyester.

For polyester, cotton/polyester blends, or other fabrics where dye migration is a concern, use an appropriate Rutland low-bleed or polyester white specifically formulated for those substrates.

Mesh selection directly affects the finished ink deposit. Coarser mesh counts provide a heavier deposit for increased opacity, while finer mesh counts can produce a smoother print and softer hand.

The complete ink film must reach approximately 320°F (160°C) for proper cure. Always verify cure under actual production conditions and test the finished print for adhesion and wash durability.

EH9072 is formulated as a ready-to-print white. Excessive use of reducers or viscosity modifiers can reduce opacity and alter the ink's printing characteristics.
